PROMEMORIA (MEMORANDUM) was born from the desire to exhibit certain works created for specific exhibitive occasions distant in time: the Camere format amplifies its potential. The present exhibition, in dialogue with the artist, is an occasion for a renewed viewing.

If a long night were to shatter, its shards would probably be visible in the “dark” volumes by Michelangelo Pistoletto in the spaces of RAM radioartemobile.

The new cycle of exhibitions PROMEMORIA II hosts the first three pieces of Art of Squalor – created for the exhibition at the Pieroni Gallery in March 1986 – the moment in which the artist came out of his phase of light sleep (1981-1984) to abandon himself in a “deep sleep”(1985-1988), in which matter is volume, absorbing energy.

[…] when you observe the sky at night from your window, you realise that it is a great blackness containing the light of the stars. In the case of the volumes present at this exhibition, the blackness is within the light […]

(taken from an interview by Flavio Alivernini with Michelangelo Pistoletto)

The same day, Sunday October 28th at 12:00, in the prestigious venue of Baths of Caracalla there will be the presentation of Terzo Paradiso (Third Paradise) by Michelangelo Pistoletto curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, in collaboration with Cittadellarte and RAM radioartemobile.

The event is quite exceptional: the archaeological finds provide the backdrop to Nuovo Segno d’Infinito (The New Sign of Infinity) and represent that age-old conjunction between what we have been, what we are and what we will be.

The occasion will also see the opening of the Mithraeum, long since closed to the public.
