Michelangelo Pistoletto in collaboration with RAM radioartemobile, on the occasion of the Road to Contemporary Art fair presents the installation: Luogo di raccoglimento multiconfessionale e laico per Roma (A Multiconfessional and Secular prayer closet  for Rome).

The installation is part of the Love Difference project an Artistic Movement for an Inter-Mediterranean Policy, born in 2002 within Cittadellarte. The goal of Love Difference is to develop creative projects aimed at stimulating dialogue between people from different cultural, political or religious backgrounds and at building a solid network between subjects intending to confront each other and resolve social matters through art and creativity.

Luogo di raccoglimento multiconfessionale e laico per Roma proposes a meditative multiconfessional and secular space. Four sections of the space are adorned with the symbols of different religions and a fifth section is dedicated to secularity while the central area hosts the Metro cubo d’infinito (Cubic Metre of Infinity), a 1966 piece by Pistoletto composed of a cube made of six mirrors reflecting towards the inside.

This edition of the installation boasts an important novelty: Pistoletto’s work at the RAM pavilion will not be limited to the installation, but will also extend to the performance of Le Trombe del Giudizio (The trumpets of Justice) which announce the passing of infancy, of humanity to maturity. The giant trumpets will sound accompanied by the voice of the soprano Cristina Pistoletto, author of the composition.

Following will be a presentation of the illustrated essay Terzo Paradiso (Third Paradise), edited by Marsilio, a political/cultural manifesto for the third millennium. After the first paradise, the primeval one in which man lived immersed – but also subject to – nature, came the second, current paradise, beating to the rhythm of industry, science and technology but not yet free from the magical influence and complex blackmail of the great religions. Michelangelo Pistoletto therefore invokes “a third, non-metaphysical but earthly paradise where the opposition which has been developing between the Terrestrial Paradise, borne by nature, and the Artificial Paradise, governed by technology, can be healed, finally paving the way for a constructive solution for man’s survival”. The Third Paradise Project has involved the artist Gianna Nannini in various phases.
