Alberto Garutti nasce a Galbiate, Como, nel 1948. Vive e lavora a Milano.

The piece created for the Sala del Principe in the Doria Pamphilj Palace in Valmontone is inspired by that space in which, following the bombings of the town during the Second World War, many townsfolk who had lost their homes came to find shelter. Listening once more to the songs of the period has allowed the citizens to immerse themselves in their memory.

My undergraduate work was in the medium of painting. Yet, while in school I began investigating performance as a means of creating. When I came to the School of the Art Institute it was to continue to study the forms of live art. One of the more fascinating genres of performance to me was the sound poetry and vocal improvisations of Artaud, the Futurists and the Dadaists. This led me to study under Jaap Blonk in a vocal workshop. From there, I have been concentrating on not only "pushing the voice" but also constructing a way of interpreting without language.
