Having produced and promoted, together with the Montesilvano Town Council, the installation by Felice Levini in front of the remarkable Stella Maris building as a part of the larger L’Albero della Cuccagna (The Maypole) project conceived and curated by Achille Bonito Oliva and involving 40 artists and as many places around the country, Zerynthia’s backing has been more timely and pertinent than ever.
In its over twenty years of activity Zerynthia has often endorsed the convivial aspect of making art, in the certainty that with a change of mentality art would be capable of affecting its social context.
Meeting face to face, seated around an artistic table, renouncing the multiple criteria of division, is a practice that creates antibodies against an encroachment on the territory by economic and financial mechanisms that often take the upper hand over the search for meaning that should be art’s focus.
The conviviality referred to by l’Albero della Cuccagna (The Maypole), present in many cultures around the world, is an invitation to autonomous and creative thinking.
