The National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow presents “Il Terzo Paradiso – Third Paradise.” The installation/happening involves two of the major protagonists of Italian culture: Michelangelo Pistoletto and Gianna Nannini. Third Paradise has had different interpretations: in Orestiadi Foundation (Tunis); in San Servolo, Venice, during the 2005 edition of the Venice Biennale, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva; and in Milan in bunKerart, curated by RAM radioartemobile. In this new issue, Il Terzo Paradiso proposes a widening of the original project. The installation comes out from the New sign of infinite that is the conceptual center of the exhibition and spreads in the whole space on big aluminum slabs which move the sign to an infinite repetition. Further than the reflecting works, the installation comprehends the Orchestra of rags by Pistoletto – which recalls a work made by the artist in 1968 – and a “vocal sculpture” by Gianna Nannini entitled Mama, that comes as a sonic adhesive of the whole installation, melting with the steams of the boilers in the Orchestra of rags, enriching the artwork with symbolic and aesthetic values. The Muscovite edition proposes a very peculiar evolution: the presence of the Witnesses. A large number of people from culture, science and arts are called to witness their conscious adherence and to dilate the circle of sharing that comes out from the vibrations of Il Terzo Paradiso, stressing on its heterodoxy. The exhibition is created by National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow and RAM radioartemobile in Rome, supported by the Italian Institute of Culture in Moscow. For the occasion the National Centre for Contemporary Arts in Moscow has published a catalogue curated by Irina Gorlova.
