IT — Sono felice di invitarti all’inaugurazione di Autoritratto al lavoro, la prima grande mostra antologica dedicata a Elisabetta Benassi (Roma, 1966) da un’istituzione attiva nella città in cui l’artista vive e lavora. Il progetto espositivo presenta oltre venti anni della sua produzione, giustapponendo lavori storici dei primi anni 2000 a opere recenti e a tre nuove produzioni realizzate appositamente per l’occasione.
Convinta che le mostre siano importanti più delle singole opere per articolare un’idea in modo complesso, l’artista ha scelto di proporre una riflessione sul concetto stesso di retrospettiva progettando un grande intervento installativo: una mise-en-scène delle sue opere, realizzata attraverso un sistema di architetture e ambienti disposti nello spazio come fossero quinte teatrali.

EN — I am pleased to invite you to the opening of Autoritratto al lavoro (Self-portrait at work), the first major anthological exhibition on Elisabetta Benassi (Rome, 1966) presented by an institution active in the city where she lives and works. The project presents over twenty years of her artistic output, juxtaposing works from the early 2000s with more recent pieces and three new productions made specifically for the show.
Convinced that exhibitions are more important than individual works to convey an idea in a complex way, the artist has chosen to reflect on the very notion of a retrospective, formulating a large installation: a mise-en-scène of her works, built through a system of architectures and settings arranged in space like theatrical wings.
